Our Mission & Vision

The mission of the Church is to love God, to love others, and to magnify the name of Jesus Christ. The vision of our church is to glorify our God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, to make true disciples throughout all the nations by means of missionary activity and support.

Parish Team:

Our  team recognises that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ.  Our passion and goal is to equip the members of our church for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.

Mgr Bernard Massey – Parish Priest

Mgr Bernard has over 30 years of experience in working in parishes both in the Clifton Diocese and overseas. He spent 5 years as an Army Chaplain and was based in Germany, Bosnia and Northern Ireland. Mgr Bernard is currently also one of the two Vicars General and so has a number of responsibilities in the wider Diocese including being the Vice Chair of the Diocesan Trustees. He has spent time in parishes in Swindon, Bristol, Gloucester and Bristol (again) before coming to Taunton in 2017.

Fr David Savoury – Assistant Priest


Fr. David’s main responsibility is to assist in the building of the parish community in both of our parish churches together with the wider Taunton community. Fr. David is both a great listener and speaker and excels in working with both individuals and groups. Fr. David was Ordained in 2016 after a long and distinguished career as a teacher in a residential school for deaf teenagers.



Mrs Carolyn Kirby – Parish Administrator

Carolyn is the often main point of contact for people phoning or calling at the Rectory. She has a wealth of experience built up over a good number of years both as a parishioner and as the Administrator. Carolyn can deal with a whole range of issues herself, or direct you to the person who can best help your situation. She is generaly avaialble from 9.30 – 1.00 pm Monday to Friday.
Rev Trevor Jones – Parish Deacon
Deacon Trevor has been serving the parish since before his Ordination in 1990. Having retired from the Avon & Somerset police force he spends many, many hours each week working with all sorts of different groups, both from within the parish and in the wider Taunton community. Two of his passions are dealing with people in the local secure mental health unit and also working with the homeless.
Sue Morkane
Sue runs the Taunton Catholic Centre which is on the same site as St George’s Church. The Centre is used for parish events but is also avaialbe for private hire to individuals and groups.
