Maybe not the most well known group but certainly one of the largest as people come together generally on a Wednesday morning around 10.00 am to clean the church. There is a rota so that people only need to help on average about once a month.
Couples for Christ
(CFC) is a movement intended for the renewal and strengthening of Christian family life. The members have committed themselves to the Lord and to one another so that they may grow in maturity as men and women of God and fulfil their primary vocation of raising up families under the lordship of Jesus Christ and for the service of the Kingdom of God. Couples for Christ is a work of Christ which raises up Christian couples and establishes Christian families committed to the work of evangelization, winning the world for Christ and Total Human Liberation through the power of the Holy Spirit. It grows mainly through the establishment of localized units in different parishes.
This group is very active especially within the Filipino community in Taunton. They are committed to supporting couples in their married life and helpnig them live out the gospel message.

Ministers of Holy Communion
Many of these people help with the distribution of Holy Communion at the Sunday and weekday Masses. Some also take Communion to the sick and housebound either on a Sunday or during the week. Careful training is given before someone starts this important Ministry.
Mothers Prayers
Mothers Prayers was formed to help those mothers who wished to pray together for their children and grandchildren and to find the support they needed. It was started in England in 1995 and has spread rapidly throughout the world with contacts in over 100 Countries and has the support and blessing of Christian leaders of all denominations.

There are now thousands of groups around the world. Two grandmothers, felt led by the Lord to start Mothers Prayers, and to pray in a special way for their children. They felt that they should bring all the pain and the worries they had for their children to Him and to trust in His words ‘Ask and you will receive’ ;Through this promise, they understood that the Lord is just waiting to take away pain and to bless and heal them and their children when they come to Him in Faith. They meet on a Monday morning from 10.30- 1130 during the school term time.

Music Groups

Music at St George’s and St Teresa’s Churches is generally provided by the Music Groups, Organists and Choir. We provide music for Sunday Masses in both churches. A lot of care is taken with the selection of Music to ensure that it is appropriate to support the Liturgy for that particular Mass or Service. The repertoire is eclectic from Gregorian chant, through all the ages, to present day contemporary music. If you are interested please feel free to chat to Anne-Marie Twort at 9.30am Mass at St George’s Church on Sunday mornings. At St Teresa’s we are also on the lookout for new people to join the music team. (Age range 6 to 76). New singers (especially men) are always welcome but we are particularly interested in additional instrumentalists – anything from tambourine to keyboard! We practise from 10:15am before Sunday Mass. Just introduce yourself to Eileen Binding or Peter Winstanley either before or after Mass.

The Word of God is an integral part of any Church celebration and those who read/proclaim that Word to others have an important role in all our Liturgies. We are always looking for additional readers of all ages. Also please note you do not have to be a Catholic to be a Reader all you need is to be a regular attender at one of our churches. There are rotas for both churches and all services.
Help to make the tea and coffee after the Sunday Masses at St Georges. Join either the early birds of the 8.00 am Mass or the family members at the 9.30. It’s a great way to meet and chat to a large number of people.
St Vincent de Paul (SVP)
This is a group of people who spend time each week visitng the housebound, and also helping those on the margins of society. They work away very quietly and discretely and have a meeting of their members every other Tuesday from 10.00 to 11.30 in the Rectory at St George’s.
This is far more than just a smiling face at the entrance to the Church. Our welcomers are the first point of call for many aspects of our weekend Masses. They will meet and greet both the stranger and the friend, and offer them hymn books and leaflets so that they can fully participate in the Service.
Youth for Christ
CFC Youth for Christ (YFC) aims to evangelize youth from ages thirteen (13) to twenty-one (21). The ministry molds a generation of young, passionate, convicted and Christ-centred young people, reaching out to them in every community, campus and school. YFC develops strategies in evangelization and establishes programs relevant to the changing times, meant to deepen the youth’s relationship with the bigger church.

Youth Ministry – Children’s Liturgy

Each Sunday morning at the 9.30 Mass at St George, children get to participate in their own classes. Bible lessons are taught in such a way that every child gets to participate and learn. Each of the class teachers is carefully screened and thoroughly trained in children’s instruction. The youth ministry of our church is recognized for their meaningful interaction with kids.
